It has been an interesting third week in the month of November when it comes to criminal aliens here in the State of Oregon.
This week we put another face to alien crime in the state for your radio listeners — criminal aliens who are dealing drugs in our state.
Monday, November 16, 2015 the Clackamas County Inter-agency Task Force and the Milwaukie Police Department after an investigation arrested Rafael Rivera-Rodriguez, age 35, a resident of Portland. Law enforcement seized three ounces of Heroin.
Rivera-Rodriguez was arraigned in Clackamas County Circuit on charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance Heroin 1000 feet of a School, Procession of a Controlled Substance Heroin and Probation Violation for Delivery of a Controlled Substance Heroin.
Rafael Rivera-Rodriguez (SID: 16863907) is currently incarcerated at the Clackamas County Jail.
Some background history on Rivera-Rodriguez, which will probably not surprise your radio listeners, he has prior convictions of Procession and Delivery of Heroin in Multnomah County.
Beyond his past state drug convictions, Rafael Rivera-Rodriguez has been convicted by federal immigration officials of illegally entering the country. He was recently released from a federal prison after serving time for illegal re-entry into the country.
I am left with an unanswered question:
Was Rafael Rivera-Rodriguez simplify released from a federal immigration detention facility after 180 days because he couldn’t get a timely appearance in a federal immigration court, an appearance that would once again order his removal from the country?
