Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report

March 7, 2019

Lars:

It has been an interesting first full week in the month of March 2019 when it comes to criminal aliens (illegal aliens) here in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

This week we take a look at for your radio listeners an illegal alien who is allegedly connected to a multi-state crime spree in that occurred in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Oregon.

According to an Oregon State Police (OSP) press release, at approximately 5:30 P.M. Saturday, February 23, 2019 Law Enforcement personnel were called to the location of the Red Robin Restaurant in Roseburg on the report of an attempted carjacking. Failing to steal the vehicle, the suspected carjackers fled the scene of the crime.

Roseburg Police Department officers were able to take into custody Jose Lopez-Jovel (SID: P00081418; DOB: 06/22/1987), age 31, a possible suspect in the attempted carjacking.

After Jose Lopez-Jovel’s arrest he was incarcerated at the Douglas County Jail in Roseburg, Oregon. Jose Lopez-Jovel has been identified as a Salvadoran national. Jose Lopez-Jovel was initially held at the jail on an out of state fugitive warrant from Utah.

Wanting to know the immigration status of Jose Lopez-Jovel, I contacted via e-mail on Monday, February 25, 2019 U.S. Immigration and Border Protection (ICE) Public Affairs Officer (PAO) Tanya J. Roman.

Here are some of the written questions I sent to U.S. ICE Public Affairs Officer Roman:

Is Jose Lopez-Jovel currently illegally present in the United States of America (USA)?

Can ICE confirm if an immigration detainer was placed on Jose Lopez-Jovel during his incarceration at the Douglas County Jail?

Has Jose Lopez-Jovel ever served time in a federal prison for an immigration crime or violation?

Is ICE currently trying to remove Jose Lopez-Jovel for a past crime he may have committed while illegally present in the country?

How many times if any has ICE removed Jose Lopez-Jovel from the USA?

Do ICE Officers know if the actual county origin of Jose Lopez-Jovel is El Salvador?

On Wednesday afternoon, February 27, 2019 U.S. ICE Public Affairs Officer Roman sent me the following statement via e-mail in response to my inquiry for information on Jose Lopez-Jovel:

“On Feb. 25, 2019 ICE lodged a detainer with the Douglas County Jail on Jose Lopez-Jovel, after he was arrested on an out of state felony warrant. Lopez-Jovel is a citizen of El Salvador and illegally present in the United States. He doesn’t have any prior encounters with ICE.” – Tanya J. Roman, ICE Public Affairs Officer.

At this time the criminal charges against Jose Lopez-Jovel for his alleged part in the multi-state crime spree that occurred in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah and Oregon have not yet been publically disclosed by federal and state prosecutors and law enforcement in the previously mentioned four states.

Lars, the first full week in the month of March 2019 and another criminal alien report for Lars Larson Show KXL FM 101.1 Pacific Northwest radio listeners.
