Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report
April 12, 2018
It has been an interesting second full week in the month of April when it comes to criminal aliens (illegal aliens) here in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho.
This week we take a look at for your radio listeners at an illegal alien who is allegedly involved in trafficking drugs in the State of Oregon.
On Monday, March 12, 2018 an Oregon State Police (OSP) Trooper stopped a Nissan Versa on U.S. Highway 20, Mile Post 18, east of Bend being driven by Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos, age 28, a resident of Sonora, Mexico for a speed violation.
During the traffic stop the OSP brought to the scene a drug-detecting dog to inspect the vehicle. The OSP using the drug-detecting dog determined the presence of narcotics in the Nissan Versa.
After the OSP drug-detecting dog hit on the presence of narcotics in the Nissan Versa, OSP Troopers’ searched the vehicle and discovered over 36 pounds of methamphetamine.
When the methamphetamine was discovered in the car, OSP Troopers arrested Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos and he was subsequently transported to the Deschutes County Jail in Bend, Oregon where he is currently being incarcerated.
Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos (ID: 163523; DOB: 07/07/1989) has been charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine.
According to an OSP press release the Nissan Versa Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos was driving was stolen in February 2018 in Sonora, Mexico.
Wanting to know the actual current immigration status of Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos, I contacted via e-mail on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Public Affairs Officer/Spokesperson Carissa Cutrell to investigate if he was not legally present in the United States of America.
On the evening of Wednesday, April 11, 2018 here is what ICE Public Affairs Officer/Spokesperson Carissa Cutrell had to say via e-mail in response to my inquiry for information on Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos:
“Here’s what we can provide you. You can attribute the following statement to me as an ICE spokesperson.”
“On April 11, ICE lodged a detainer with Deschutes County Jail in Bend, Oregon, on Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos, a citizen of Mexico who overstayed his term of admission to the U.S., after his arrest on several local charges.” – Carissa Cutrell
Analysis of the preceding information:
The short statement from ICE Spokesperson Carissa Cutrell on Mexican national Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos reveals three things about ICE’s enforcement of federal immigration law in Oregon.
First, ICE officers are placing immigration detainers on foreign nationals like Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos who officers believe have “overstayed his term of admission to the U.S.” incarcerated in local county jails and correctional facilities.
Second, ICE officers are checking out the identities of foreign nationals like Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos who allegedly commit “local crimes” incarcerated in local county jails and correctional facilities.
Third, reading between the lines, the ICE Spokesperson’s statement, “a citizen of Mexico who overstayed his term of admission to the U.S.,” is an indicator to me that the spokesperson does not believe Michel Alberto Fuentes Burgos is currently legally present in the United States of America.
