Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report

June 9, 2016

It has been an interesting second week in the month of June when it comes to criminal aliens here in the Pacific Northwest part of the United States of America.

This week we put another face to alien crime for your radio listeners — criminal aliens who transport illicit drugs — let us call them drug mules.

On Monday, May 18, 2015 the Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers pulled over a Mercury Mountaineer SUV driven by Miguel Angel Reyna-Ramos, age 38, a resident of Tulare, California, on Interstate 5 near Medford, Oregon for weaving in and out of traffic. The OSP troopers after stopping Reyna-Ramos discovered he didn’t have a driver’s license and the Mountaineer SUV was not register in driver’s name. Troopers noticed multiple cell phones on the vehicle’s center console, a possible sign of drug trafficking.

Following up on their suspicions, the OSP troopers asked Reyna-Ramos if they could search the SUV he had been driving, he declined. So OSP troopers deployed a narcotics detection dog. The dog subsequently alerted the troopers to 8 kilograms of methamphetamine and 2 kilograms of heroin located in the vehicle’s luggage compartment. Reyna-Ramos was then arrested by OSP troopers and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2015 the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office charged Miguel Angel Reyna-Ramos with the unlawful manufacture, delivery and possession of methamphetamine and heroin, as well as failure to display a driver’s license. He was held on more than one million dollars bail.

When questioned in late May 2015 by a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent in Medford, Reyna-Ramos revealed he was transporting drugs up Interstate-5 between California and Washington for a drug cartel located in Mexico.

Apparently because of the enormity or gravity of this drug case against Reyna-Ramos, Oregon criminal charges against him were dismissed. He was sequentially charged in U.S. District Court in Eugene, Oregon with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

On Thursday, June 2, 2016 in a U.S. District Court in Eugene, U.S. District Judge Michael McShane sentenced Miguel Angel Reyna-Ramos to serve 72 months in federal prison after he pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute 50 grams, or more, of a mixture and substance containing methamphetamine.

A press release posted on June 2nd on the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon, website revealed that Reyna-Ramos is an illegal alien and he will likely be deported after completing his prison sentence.

Lars, the second week of June and another criminal alien report for Lars Larson Show FM 101.1 radio listeners.
