Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report

It has been an interesting second full week in the month of April when it comes to criminal aliens here in the State of Oregon.

Tuesday, April 8th, the Clackamas County Jail in Oregon City, Oregon had 12 criminal aliens incarcerated at the jail, 2.76 percent of the jail population the United States (U.S.) Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), agents had identified as possibly being in the country illegally. Eight of the 12 criminal aliens with U.S. DHS–ICE holds at the Clackamas County Jail were involved in some type of drug crime, 66.67 percent of the alien jail population (Heroin, Methamphetamine and Cocaine).

Tuesday, April 8th, the Jackson County Jail in Medford, Oregon had nine criminal aliens incarcerated at the jail, 3.91 percent of the jail population U.S. DHS–ICE agents had identified as possibly being in the country illegally. Two of the nine criminal aliens with U.S. DHS–ICE holds at the Jackson County Jail were involved in some type of drug crime, 22.22 percent of the alien jail population (Methamphetamine and Heroin).

Wednesday, April 9th, the Lincoln County Jail in Newport, Oregon had one criminal alien incarcerated at the jail, 0.62 percent of the jail population U.S. DHS–ICE agents had identified as possibly being in the country illegally. The one criminal alien with a U.S. DHS–ICE hold at the Lincoln County Jail was not involved in any type of drug crime.

Thursday, April 10th, the Linn County Corrections in Albany, Oregon had one criminal alien incarcerated at the jail, 0.56 percent of the jail population U.S. DHS–ICE agents had identified as possibly being in the country illegally. The one criminal alien with a U.S. DHS–ICE hold at the Linn County Jail was not involved in any type of drug crime.

Thursday, April 10th, the Marion County Correctional Facility (MCCF) in Salem, Oregon had 36 criminal aliens incarcerated at the jail, 8.55 percent of the jail population the U.S. DHS–ICE agents had identified as possibly being in the country illegally. Six of the 36 criminal aliens with U.S. DHS–ICE holds at the MCCF were involved in some type of drug crime, 16.67 percent of the alien jail population (Methamphetamine and Heroin).

Of the 59 criminal aliens incarcerated in the five preceding county jails and correctional facilities, 16 aliens (27.12 percent) were detained for some type of drug crime.

Some fast facts:

– On March 1, 2014 the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) prison system incarcerated 1,147 criminal aliens (prisoners with immigration detainers); 173 of those alien prisoners (15.08 percent) were serving time for drug crimes;

– Of all the 1,034 prisoners, 861 domestic and 173 foreign national, incarcerated in the in the DOC prison system on March 1st for drugs crimes, alien prisoners made up 16.73 percent of the prison population serving time for drug crimes.
