Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report
March 27, 2014
Lars: It has been an interesting last full week in the month of March when it comes to criminal aliens here in the State of Oregon.
This week we put another face to alien crime in the state for your radio listeners — the fifth most common alien criminal activity that occurs in our state — assaults.
Tuesday, September 3, 2013 Woodburn Police officers arrested Juan Torres-Santizo for attempting to stab Antonio Segundo. After the police arrested Torres-Santizo, he was transported to the Marion County Correctional Facility (MCCF) in Salem, Oregon where he was charged Assault II Attempt and Assault IV; furthermore, he was listed as being held as a material witness. Some background history, apparently Torres-Santizo witnessed the stabbing death of another man, Pedro Bravo-Luna.
Since Torres-Santizo (SID #: 18643031) has been incarcerated at the MCCF, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents monitoring jail intakes placed an immigration detainer on him (See link).
On Tuesday, March 25, 2014 Juan Torres-Santizo was sentenced in a Marion County Circuit Court to eight months in the MCCF and to three years post prison supervision; he is still being held as a material witness.
Some fast facts:
– On February 1, 2014 the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) prison system incarcerated 1,154 criminal aliens (prisoners with immigration detainers); 108 of those alien prisoners (9.36 percent) were serving time for assaults;
– Marion County Circuit Courts have sent 22 of the 108 criminal aliens (20.37 percent of the aliens) currently serving time in the DOC prison system for assaults;
– The self-declared country of origin of 17 of the 22 aliens sent to prison for assaults from Marion County — 77.27 percent Mexican nationals.
