On Saturday, November 30, 2013 Gresham Police Department officers found and arrested Pedro Nunez-Valdivia, age 45, for his alleged stabbing of ‘Good Samaritan’ Kit Haberman, age 29, who tried on Friday, November 29th to stop a domestic assault.
During the assault, Maria Rodriguez-Medrano, age 40, Nunez-Valdivia’s wife was also cut.
After Nunez-Valdivia’s arrest, he was then transported by police officers to the Multnomah County Jail where he was charged with One Count of Assault Two, One Count of Assault Two (Domestic Violence), One Count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, One Count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Domestic Violence) and One Count of Strangulation.
While he was incarcerated at the county jail, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents monitoring jail intakes placed an immigration detainer on him (See link).
Approximately three months later, in early February 2014, in a Multnomah County Circuit Court room he pled guilty to One Count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Domestic Violence) and One Count of Attempted Assault Two, both crimes “C” felonies.
A Multnomah County Circuit Court judge sentenced Nunez-Valdivia to five years in the Oregon Department of Corrections prison system for his crimes.
