Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report

Lars Larson Show: Criminal Alien of the Week Report

January 26, 2012

It has been an interesting last full week in the month of January when it comes to criminal aliens here in the State of Oregon.

Our criminal alien of the week is a case from the not-too-distant-past, the case of Bulgarian national Doitchin Krastev, also-known-as Jason Robert Evers.

On January 27th of last year, Krastev was sentenced to 24 months in a federal prison in Portland for steeling the identification of a murdered two-year old Ohio boy, Jason Robert Evers, along with using the boy’s stolen identity to apply for a United States passport and get a job at the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC).

The Associated Press reported yesterday that Krastev was released from a federal prison in California and turned over to United States (U.S.) Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), officials.

Doitchin Krastev’s stealing of a dead Ohio boy’s identity to obtain illegal employment with the State of Oregon has caused me to question what the state can do or will do in the future to prevent fraudulent employment by foreign nationals illegally in the country?

Moving on, this week we have news from the Oregon State Legislature to report to your KXL 101.1 radio listeners about E-verify jobs legislation pending before the 2012 Oregon State Legislature, House Bill 4052 (HB 4052).

The pending E-verify jobs legislation, HB 4052, sponsored Representative Kim Thatcher, would require the State of Oregon to require all state agencies use the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Citizen and Immigration Services (CIS) E-verify system.

Representative Thatcher’s E-verify legislation needs to get hearing before the 2012 Oregon State Legislature legislative to move forward and get a vote before the entire legislative assembly.

The 2012 legislative session starts next week; so Lars Larson show listeners should call or e-mail their Oregon State Senators and Representatives and ask them to give HB 4052, E-verify jobs legislation, a committee hearing (See links to Oregon State Legislature).
