It has been an interesting forth full week in the month of October when it comes to criminal aliens here in the State of Oregon.

Saturday, October 22nd, the Washington County Jail in Hillsboro, Oregon had 91 criminal aliens incarcerated at the jail, 15.91% of the jail population the United States (U.S.) Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had identified as possibly being in the county illegally. Fourteen of the 91 criminal aliens with U.S. DHS–ICE holds at the Washington County Jail were involved in some type of drug crime, 15.38% of the alien jail population (methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana).

This week lets us go in depth on the Washington County Jail.

The cost to incarcerate a prisoner at the Washington County Jail is ($110.00) per day.

So, the cost to incarcerate 91 criminal aliens at the Washington County Jail is ($10,010.00) per day, ($70,070.00) per week, or ($3,653,650.00) per year.

For the first 10 months of 2011, the Washington County Jail has averaged 68.30 criminal aliens per day at the jail.

The Washington County Jail is one of 36 Oregon county jails now using the U.S. DHS-ICE Secure Communities program to help identify its jail population.
